LaTonya Johnson is a Senior Sports Manager for ESPN Wide World of Sports, Walt Disney World Resorts, in Orlando, Florida.
She is responsible for managing alliances with key amateur sports organizations including AAU, Special Olympics, Under Armour All-American High School Football, Drew Brees Passing Academy, and KSA Events, the nation’s premier host of high school sporting events. Most recently, as the Sr. event leader for the Invictus Games 2016. She leads a team of event managers and event interns who are responsible for the planning and execution of over 40 events annually with an access of over 50,000 participants and 75,000 spectators. She was the lead senior sports manager for the inaugural ESPN High School Girls Showcase, which was a week-long sports festival designed as a one- of- a- kind experience for female athletes with training and improving their game with ESPN coverage to recognize their achievements.
Over her career LaTonya has worked in several capacities with the Disney Company, where she started as a management intern on the college program. After graduating from college she was offered a full time management role with the Walt Disney Company and this is where her career journey began which included guest operations at Epcot, part of the opening team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and then as a College Recruiter, where she recruited over 900 college students annually to participate on the Walt Disney college program.
LaTonya was selected as a Central Florida YMCA Adult Achiever through the Disney Company, where she currently serves as the co-chair for the Central Florida YMCA Teen Achievers Program Post Secondary Seminars where she assists the teens in preparation for college and career/technical education. The Central Florida YMCA selected her as volunteer of the year in 2012. She is also on the Community Outreach team for ESPN Wide World of Sports.
LaTonya graduated from University of Central Florida with a degree in Business Management and received her MBA from Webster University. She also was a 4-year Collegiate Basketball Player for the University of Central Florida.
